The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing accounting-related duties which include interpreting and analyzing accounting data and financial statements. This professional position will work closely with the Director of Finance to ensure timely and accurate entry of financial data. This includes a variety of accounting and clerical tasks such as processing accounts receivable, accounts payable, timesheets, account reconciliations, accounting analysis, and other accounting duties. This position will also perform special projects for management and the department.


Accounts Receivable

  • Set up new customers in accounting system for invoicing
  • Set up new contracts and G/L accounts for new contracts
  • Create and input invoices into the system
  • Record cash receipts in system

Accounts Payable

  • Set up new vendors in system
  • Review invoices for accuracy
  • Code invoices with G/L account # according to budget and obtain proper approval signatures
  • Process checks and batch with appropriate documentation for signatures
  • Audit expense reports and ensure compliance with company policy

Timesheet Processing

  • Add new charge codes to timesheets on an as-needed basis
  • Ensure all timesheets are entered and approved in a timely manner
  • Process downloads from timesheet to accounting system

Cash Management

  • Process wire transfers and deposits
  • Coordinate and resolve various issues with bank
  • Monitor daily account activity

Financial Reporting

  • Maintain budget data and update rolling forecast data monthly
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist in preparation of monthly and quarterly management reports


  • Maintain A/P and A/R electronic and hardcopy files
  • Maintain fixed-asset schedule and perform annual physical inventory
  • Document policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Assist in budgeting process
  • Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned
  • Provide various reconciliations and analysis work as assigned
  • Participate and provide updates to company during monthly staff meetings


Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 3-5 years equivalent business related experience preferred


  • Intermediate to advanced experience with QuickBooks, iOS, Windows, Microsoft Excel and Word required
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of accounting software packages; Experience with Deltek GCS or Costpoint a plus
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty
  • Ability to utilize strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism at all times required
  • Individual will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his/her work
