We are looking for a Full-Stack Web Developer with 2-4 years experience developing complex web applications using Rails. Experience with PHP, Java, Node, or similar is a plus. Your primary focus will be development of all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central database, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. You will also be responsible for integrating the front-end elements built by your coworkers into the application. A basic understanding of front-end technologies is therefore necessary as well.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 2 - 4 years experience developing user-facing applications and RESTful APIs with Ruby on Rails
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems, or related technical discipline is preferred, but not required
  • Help evolve our existing architecture, working with teams to improve operations, and implementing new features and functionality
  • Bonus: Work with open source mapping tools like PostGIS, Leaflet, QGIS, + Mapbox Studio


  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby code
  • Integration of data storage solutions such as PostgreSQL, file systems, Amazon S3
  • Development of user-facing applications and RESTful APIs with the Rails framework
  • Develop and implement automated tests for applications and APIs
  • Help maintain code quality, organization and automatization
  • Mentor junior engineers on development initiatives and interact directly with VP of Engineering


  • Experience with Ruby on Rails, along with common libraries such as RSpec and Resque
  • Demonstrable understanding of server-side templating languages
  • Demonstrable understanding of server-side CSS preprocessors, such as Sass
  • Demonstrable understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
  • Ability to integrate multiple new and existing data sources and databases into one system
  • Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes
  • Able to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests
  • Proficiency code versioning tools, such as Git/GitHub, SVN is a plus
  • Familiarity with tools such as Bower, Bundler, and Rake is desirable
  • Familiarity with continuous integration
